Aquatic worms live in nearly every body of water in North America. Named for the development and success on the San Juan River, this fly has become popular throughout the continent. The San Juan Worm should be fished on a dead drift near the bottom of the water column. The red color tends to attract more fish as well as allowing it to mimic midge larva that hatch from muddy (oxygen-deprived) sediment layers.
