Wetfly Blue Wing Olive Fly (BWO), 1 Dozen Fly Fishing Flies

The Blue-Winged Olive is a mayfly that generates a bit of chatter over the winter months as it is generally the only mayfly anglers will see for months. When temperatures rise and overcast skies are overhead, this fly (often referred to as the "baetis") makes its presence on the river. To hungry trout, the BWO is a welcome visitor. Typically, if you see a mayfly on the water during the winter months, this is the fly to use. Fish it with a dead drift wherever you see surface feeding. Baetis will hatch throughout the year, so keep the pattern handy and keep an eye out for the distinctive, small mayflies with ice-blue colored wings and an olive-green body.
