Wetfly Bead Head Copper John – Red, Fly Fishing Fly, 1 Dozen – COPPER

The Copper John was originally created by fly tier, John Barr. The wire body of this fly offers excellent weight, as well as flash and segmentation to the fly. With the addition of the bead head on this pattern, the Copper John will reach depth very quickly; making this an effective nymph for fast-moving water. This very durable nymph can imitate a variety of sub-aquatic insects including stoneflies and mayfly nymphs. While the Copper John can be fished alone, it is most often used in tandem with a large grasshopper pattern 3-4 feet above and a smaller "hatch-matching" emerger or midge tied below. The large degree of flash obtained by the peacock hurl, the epoxy-flashback, the wire, and the bead bring this nymph into an attractor category as well and should be effective throughout the year and seasons.
